What is MAV Time?

MAV Time is a short class held on B-Day Tuesdays between second and third period. Similar to advisory class or "home room", MAV Time is intended to give students additional time with a teacher or adult outside of their usual classes. Students are grouped into MAV Time classes based on grade level and academy, allowing MAV Time teachers to cater to their class' specific needs. The greatest advantage of MAV Time is its comparatively low student-to-teacher ratio of 20:1.

The MAV Time program was implemented at the beginning of the 2007-2008 school year with goals of monitoring students' academic progress (this includes regular grade checks) and creating an extra link of communication between parents and MAV Time teachers. Though discussion with your student's MAV Time teacher is encouraged, it is not intended as a replacement for talking with the student's regular teachers.

Students need to keep in mind that truancies and tardies in their MAV Time classes are counted, even if no actual credit is lost. Lunch detention can still result from skipping this class.

Your student's MAV Time instructor is listed on Power Schools or can be contacted by calling the school. We appreciate your support for this new program and hope it will make a positive difference in the high school experience of all students.
